Also known as Elephant’s Ear, From the tropical + subtropical Asia + eastern Australia region, there are currently 80 claimed species of Alocasia. Ranging in a variety of colors, textures, and size, the Alocasia displays beautiful, showy leaves.

These plants are beautiful, but be careful of their highly toxic nature. Keep away from pets and children.


Alocasia Care

Location: keep in a warm, indoor location with high humidity and Bright Indirect Light.

Soil: This plant likes a slightly acidic, well-draining potting mix.

Watering: Soil should be evenly moist, but cut back in the winter months when this plant goes dormant.

Temps: This beaut is a tropical babe and doesn’t love to be below 60ºF and loves a very humid environment. Try misting this plant weekly to keep up with humidity and keep away from windows, doors, and drafts.

Propagating: Alocasia plants propagate by clump or rhizome division during growing season (spring).

Pests + Diseases: although not commonly targeted, Alocasia species are subject to spider mites.

Issues: Yellowing leaves (watering issue like over/Under Watering, lighting, root bound), Drooping leaves ( watering issue like over/Under Watering, lighting) Prone to Root Rot.
